HOUSING

We have compiled a list of housing options (link) on and near the UW-Madison campus.

PARKING/TRANSPORTATION

Good luck. UW prides itself on being green and parking un-friendly. Street parking is available near Weeks Hall, but a 2 hour maximum is enforced. Visitor Parking passes, available for the nearby Union South and Engineering covered garages, are $12/day (as of 2014) but should be arranged well in advance. Remember to contact your housing option to arrange parking if necessary.

Note that many housing options are within a short walk or bus-ride of Weeks Hall. Madison Metro buses provide excellent access to the lab; routes and schedules are accessible via Google Maps. Metro routes 80, 81, 82, 84 are free campus circulators. Check the Madison Metro website for current fares for non-campus routes.

Madison B-cycle offers bike-rental stations (similar to the CitiBike service in NYC) at dozens of locations around campus and downtown from Spring-Fall. There is a rack at Union South, a block from Weeks Hall. A monthly membership is only $8 (as of 2014), just remember to cancel the auto-renewing subscription when you leave!

GETTING TO MADISON

By air: Dane County Regional Airport (callsign: MSN) serves Madison and is a 15 minute cab-ride from Weeks Hall. Cabs are available at the (very) far end of the baggage claim. O'Hare International Airport in Chicago is ~3 hours drive from the UW-Madison campus and there are bus services (e.g. Van Galder Coach USA) that will pick you up at either the International Terminal or the Bus/Shuttle Center and drop you off at a central campus location.

By bus: In addition to the bus service from O'Hare listed above, Megabus offers service to the UW-Madison campus from downtown Minneapolis/St. Paul and Chicago.
