Fox River Valley

"Those who eat fish from the lower Bay and below the DePere Dam face a cancer risk equal to smoking 2 to 3 packs of cigarettes a day."  Dr. Jeffery Foran, Toxicologist.

The Fox River has been contaminated by PCBs from a variety of companies involved in paper production and paper recycling along the Fox River near Green Bay, WI.  The PCB pollution in the Fox River is also leading to high levels of PCBs in Lake Michigan as well.  The Fox River Watch is among the groups that are working to get the PCB contamination in the river addressed and cleaned up.

For more information, check out the Fox River Watch’s homepage for more information covering anything from what PCBs are, to their effect on the environment, how they got where they are now and what is being done to get rid of them.  http://foxriverwatch.com/

The following is the Appleton Public Library’s page with lots of good PCB info and links to other sites http://www.apl.org/community/pcb.html
