Glacial Landform Associations


Association I - Drumlin and Esker Dominated Landscapes - This glacial landform association consists of drumlins, eskers, and high-relief hummocky moraines. Till associated with these landforms are usually sandy or silty.  Local relief in end moraines is usually greater than 5 meters.  Minor retreat moraines may be superimposed upon these landforms.

Association II - Till Plain and Moraine Dominated Landscapes - This association consists of till plains with very low releif and low relief end moraines. These moraines have local relief of less than 5 meters. Till associated with this type of landscape is usually silty or clayey.

Association III - Aligned and Low Relief Hummocky Moraine Dominated Landscapes - This association consists of moraines mapped as "stagnation moraines", "washboard moraines", and "ice-thrust moraines".  Till associated with these landforms is usually silty or clayey.

Association IV - Lake Plain Dominated Landscapes -

Association V - Outwash, Kettle and Kame Dominated Landscapes -

Association VI - Eolian Dominated Landscapes - This landscape is dominated by dune sand, and loess.

Association VII - Bedrock Dominated Landscapes - These landscapes are dominated by stream erosion and mass wasting.  Glacial sediments are thin or absent.
