Metallogeny 2000: Review and Perspectives

Symposium in honor of the retirement of

Bernard Poty

Nancy, France

December 7 and 8, 2000

Second circular

For a long time, metallogeny has been an important scientific specialization in Nancy, where basic and applied research are closely combined. Research in Metallogeny was originally centered around the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Géologie (ENSG), and has later extended to other Nancy research institutions of the Université Henri Poincaré (UHP), the Institut National Polytechnique de Lorraine (INPL) and the CNRS. Bernard Poty took a prominent part in creating innovative structures (CREGU) associating university and industry, and in using new research tools such as fluid inclusions.

In honor of B. Poty’s retirement, the Metallogeny group of the Institut Lorrain des Géosciences (ILG)- which comprises researchers from several structures is organizing a symposium on Metallogeny in Nancy. This symposium is primarily devoted to topics that were developed by Bernard Poty in Nancy, but also offers an opportunity to retrospectively visit past themes and to look at emerging new prospects and tools at the turning point of the XXI century and third millennium.

To all with an interest in metal genesis, the organizing committee extends an invitation to attend and participate in the symposium.
