The XIV European Current Research on Fluid Inclusions meeting will be held in Nancy,
France from July 1 to 4, 1997. The meeting will take place at the School of Mines,
Parc de Saurupt, 54000 Nancy.

The School of Mines is located near the city center, the railway station, hotels and
bus facilities (see joined map).
Public transportation
Nancy is served by motorway, rail and air transportation. Nancy is connected
to Paris by train and it takes around 3h.

Nancy is also connected to Strasbourg and Luxembourg by train.
Airport (Metz-Nancy-Lorraine) is located at 40 minutes from Nancy Center. Transfer by
shuttle from the airport to Nancy center (railway station) is possible and costs
around 40 FF.
Nancy has a city bus system serving the entire town. Bus schedules and maps will be
available to the participants at the conference. Bus nƒ4 goes from downtown to the
School of Mines. From downtown to School of Mines, take the direction of
Vandoeuvre CHU Brabois, stop at ´ Garenne ª or ´ Clemenceau ª. From School of Mines
to downtown, take the direction of Nancy Beauregard, stop at ´ Maginot ª.
Registration
The registration service will be operative on Tuesday, July 1st from 17h00 to 20h00
and on Wednesday, July 2nd from 8h00. Registered participants may pick up their
badge, the final programme and the abstract book at the registration desk, (main
entrance of the School of Mines).
Scientific program
A provisionnal program is attached to this circular.
An overhead projector and two 24-36 mm slide projectors will be available for oral
presentations. Slides must be numbered and arranged in their correct sequential
order. Place appropriate number in the top right hand corner, corresponding to the
projection position, with L (left) or R (right) if you use two slide projectors
simultaneously. Speaker name must be marked clearly on each slide. Please take your
slide sets to the projectionist and report to the session chairmen at least 15
minutes before the session begins. Check the final program (distributed at the
symposium) for the exact time of your presentation. The time for oral presentation is
15 minutes (+ 5 minutes of discussion). You are kindly requested to adjust your oral
presentation to time requirements and to follow strictly the instructions of the
chairmen.
A slide room will be available to all speakers.
Poster session will be located in the hall of School of Mines. Each poster booth will
consist of a wood board or a grid. The limit for poster size is 90 cm (width) x
160 cm (height). The space for mounting the poster will be marked with the same
number as appears in the final program.
A business meeting of the IMA Commission for fluid inclusions will take place on
Thursday, July 3rd at 19h00.
Publications
Papers can be submitted for publication in the European Journal of Mineralogy. A
block of page will be reserved in an issue for publications of papers (maximally 12
printed pages) which meet the standards of the journal. The deadline for
submission is 15 August 1997. Manuscript must be sent to E.A.J. Burke, Chief editor
of EJM, Faculty of Earth Sciences, Vrije Universiteit, De Boelelaan 1085, NL-1081
HV Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
Visit of Laboratories
A visit of the laboratories (Raman spectroscopy, Laser Ablation Optical Emission
spectroscopy, Fourier Transform Infra Red spectroscopy) will be organized on the
evening of July 2nd and will be matched with cheese and wine tasting party.
Field trip
An alpine fissure minerals field trip in the Mont Blanc massif and DauphinÈ region
is planned from July 5 to 8. First, the excursion will be devoted to the visit of
Chamonix area : general presentation of the Alpine fissures and their crystals with a
full day in high mountains, Aiguille du Midi (3842 m), Pointe Helbronner (3462 m).
Secondly a tour in the Bourg d'Oisans region will consist of visits of outstanding
collections of minerals (Grenoble and Bourg d'Oisans museums) and field excursion.
Reservations are closed.
Social events and meals
A welcome party will be offered to all participants on the evening of July 1st at
19h00 at School of Mines.
A social dinner will be organized on the evening of July 4th and will take place
at Stanislas Square in the Grands Salons de l¼Hotel de Ville at 19 h 30.
Daily lunch as well as morning and afternoon coffee breaks will be served at the
Symposium.
Accompanying member program
An historic and artistic tour will be organized in Nancy. Wednesday 2nd July, 14h30 -
17h30, Historic Nancy, popular art and regional museum and old city monuments,
Thursday 3rd July, 14h30 -17h30, museum and 1900 district with historical
buildings of the "Art Nouveau".
Climate
The climate in Nancy in July is relatively warm (20-25ƒC day, 10-15ƒ night). However,
the temperature could change and a rainy day could occur.
Currency
The french currency unit is the French Franc. International credit cards (Visa,
Mastercard, American Express) are usually accepted in hotels, shops and banks. Most
currencies can be exchanged at banks which are opened daily.
Student residence
Student dormitory has to be paid in cash on arrival. The price for one night is
around 80 FF. Breakfast is not included and will cost around 20 FF. Note that bath
towels are not provided.
