Pinnacle Node 4
This stop is southwest of the prominent overlook that is the site of stop 3. Immediately south of the camera position most of the pinnacles are just peaking out of the sand, only their grey caliche cemented tops are visible. To the north the land falls away and erosion has exposed the full 3-4 meter heights of the isolated spires.
What kinds of evidence would you look for to try to decide whether the short pinnacles to the south of the camera position were being exposed for the first time or in fact were being buried by shifting sands?
