Looking North from the Ramp

This panorama was taken from the access ramp down the south side of the pit. The view of the north pit wall is not much different from that seen from the south rim panorama. However from this vantage point, the actual mining operations taking place in the bottom of the pit can be seen.

In the center of the pit, a power shovel is loading two haul trucks from the ore that was blasted the day before. The trucks will then make their way up the ramp through the underground access road. To the west of the power shovel, two blast hole drills sit idel as half a dozen workers charge the next round of holes with mixtures of fertilizer and fuel oil in preparation for a blast later the same day.
