About the Club

Our club is young, having been founded in 2001 as a paleontological discussion group. The Paleontology Club UW (PaleoClub) was accepted as a registered student organization in 2002. Since then we have met every other tuesday to discuss paleontological papers as well as new theories. We enjoy field trips and fossil collecting trips. In the past we have visited the Field Museum of Natural History getting behnd the scenes tours of both the Paleontology Dept. and the Anthropology Dept. Our most recent trips include a Devonian fossil collecting trip to Iowa and a behind the scenes tour of the Weiss Earth Science Museum in Menasha, WI.

In 2004 we founded and hosted MSSPR, the Midwest Symposium of Student Paleontologic Research which was invented as a venue for students throughout the midwest to present thier research in paleontolgy to other students and professors. Our goal is to provide opportunities for students to take part in research, as well as, opportunities for students with the same interests to come together, share a passion and to reach out to the public.
