The large vertebrate skeletons, especially the Edmontosaurus and the mastodon, are the displays that really draw the crowds. However, the Museum has packed in dozens of interesting exhibits of familiar animals, like an early horse, a saber-tooth cat, an extinct pig, a giant armadillo-like creature, a 20-foot long swimming reptile, and a very large, vicious-looking fish.

Mammals:

Archaeotherium sp. (skull of an extinct pig)
Eurhinodelphis bossi (skull of a dolphin)
Hoplophoneus sp. (skeleton of a young saber-tooth cat)
Mastodon americanus (mastodon skeleton)
Mesohippus sp. (skeleton of a three-toed horse)
Squalodon calvertensis (skull of a toothed whale)
titanothere (skull of a relative of the rhinoceros)

Dinosaurs:

Avaceratops lammersi (skeleton of a ceratopsian [related to Triceratops])
Edmontosaurus annectens (skeleton of a duck-billed dinosaur)

Reptiles:

Captorhinus aguti (skeleton of a small stem reptile)
Platecarpus sp. (skeleton of an mosasaur [a swimming reptile])
Stenopterygius quadricissus (skeleton of an ichthyosaur [a swimming reptile])

Fish:

Heliobatis sp. (skeleton of a stingray)
Xiphactinus audax (skull of a very large fish)
