Lifelike murals and rare artifacts fill the galleries of the Wisconsin Veterans Museum. The museum was established following the Civil War, allowing it to house one of the nation’s most extensive collections of Civil War artifacts. Rare Civil War battle flags are displayed, along with an interactive database with the Civil War records of veterans from throughout the state.

In the 20 th Century Gallery, a Sopwith Camel biplane, a Huey Helicopter, and a P51 Mustang are all suspended from the ceiling. Exhibits, featuring murals from WWI through the Persian Gulf, add a human perspective to the conflicts. An authentic periscope allows visitors to view Downtown Madison, as it would appear from a submarine. Additional exhibits change throughout the year.
