SUPERGENE

Gene Cameron was affectionately called 'Supergene' by his students

First UW electron microprobe

Gene Cameron purchased the first microprobe,
a hand-operated three spectrometer ARL-EMX
in 1966 (for $100,000) and hired Everett Glover
to oversee the lab. Some of the first moon rocks
were analyzed in this electron microprobe lab.
Here's Gene tweaking the dials of the EMX --->.
