This includes several Hermit pressure transducers and data logger systems for continuous water level recording, electric tapes, peristaltic and submersible pumps, and meters for field measurement of conductivity, pH, dissolved oxygen, and ions such as chloride and nitrate. There are also several pygmy meters for stream gaging. The hydrogeology group makes use of the department's auger drilling rig for shallow well installation and of the vibracore system for sediment sampling. Through collaboration with the State Geologic and Natural History Survey we also have access to downhole geophysical tools and a borehole flowmeter. Laboratory instrumentation includes a number of rigid wall permeameters for measurement of hydraulic conductivity and sieves for grain size analysis. Computing facilities in the hydrogeology lab include 4 Dell Pentium 4 workstations, a Sony laptop, several Pentium computers, a color printer, Epson scanner, and Kodak digital camera. |
