One of the field trip leaders, Mario Rebolledo, stands next to the sign for the deep borehole that was drilled to investigate the Chicxulub impact crater. Mario was involved with the drilling project and has since established the Centro de Estudios del Agua, a branch of the Centro de Investigacion Cientifica de Yucatan, located in Cancun.
