Guadalupe "Lupita" Velazquez also served as a guide on the trip and was extremely patient and kind when translating for us gringoes. She has worked with Luis and Eugene Perry of Northern Illinois University (her Ph.D. advisor) on the hydrogeology and hydrogeochemistry of NW Yucatan.
