After arriving in Cancun, we drove across the Yucatan Peninsula to reach Celestun, where we went on a boat tour of the estuary. The estuary at Celestun supports large populations of migratory birds, given it international importance. There is no centralized wastewater treatment facility for the town of Celestun.
