Luis Marin (M.S. 1986) of UNAM (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México) in Mexico City organized the field trip. He has done quite a bit of hydrogeological research in Yucatan, primarily with regard to the Ring of Cenotes - an arc of sinkholes in northwest Yucatan that is the surface expression of the Chicxulub impact crater.
