Prospective Students
Career Opportunities
There are many career opportunities available for students other than in the petroleum industry
or academia. Most private environmental consulting firms and government agencies
(including state government) hire people with a M.S. degree. The major oil companies actively
recruit at Wisconsin during the Fall semester, allowing M.S. and Ph.D. students to interview
for summer internships. Academic positions as well as many research opportunities at other
universities or institutions are commonly the avenue that many people finishing a Ph.D.
take.
