Career Opportunities
There are a variety of career opportunities in industry, consulting,
or academia for graduates in geology and geophysics.
Most private environmental consulting firms and government agencies (including state government) hire people with an M.S. degree, and many hire those with a B.S. degree.
The major oil companies actively recruit at Wisconsin during the fall semester (click here to read "Why Interview?"), giving M.S. and Ph.D. students the opportunity to interview for summer internships.
Academic positions as well as many research opportunities at other
universities or institutions are options for those with a Ph.D.
