Madison is
"the New Berkeley"
New York Times writer Charles Runnette has dubbed Madison, WI the new Berkeley, CA in his list of this season’s up-and-coming destinations. Runnette’s “New New List: Fall ’06,” which appears in the Travel Fall 2006 edition of The New York Times Style Magazine, covers six categories ranging from foliage, shopping and haute dining to off-the-grid adventure, culture and, Madison’s category, back-to-school fun. About Madison, Runnette writes, “This picturesque university town on an isthmus between two lakes has a progressive vibe, great restaurants featuring local produce (check out Harvest) and the new Cesar Pelli-designed Madison Museum of Contemporary Art.”
