NATIONAL RESEARCH COUNCIL OF THE NATIONAL ACADEMIES ------ Applications sought for postdoctoral and senior research associateship awards.  Approximately 350 full-time Associateships will be awarded on a competitive basis in 2004 for research in fields of chemistry, earth & atmospheric sciences, engineering, applied sciences & computer science, life & medical sciences, math, space & planetary sciences and physics.  Application deadlines are February 1, May 1, August 1 and November 1 for reviews in mid-March, mid-June, mid-September and mid-January respectively.  Detailed program information, including information on how to apply is available on the web site at: www.national-academies.org/rap.

NATIONAL PHYSICAL SCIENCE CONSORTIUM ---- Fellowship program is open for receipt of applications at www.npsc.org. POSITIONS AVAILABLE -- DETAILS AVAILABLE IN THE OFFICE -
GEORGIA STATE UNIVERSITY ---- Analytical Geochemistry Position ---- Tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor or beginning Associate Professor to begin August 15, 2004.  Take over operation and management of the department's NSF funded regional laser ablation ICPMS lab (http://www.gsu.edu/~geoamg/Page_3.html) and is expected to develop an externally funded research program emphasizing date generated in the lab.  Check the department web site at www.gsu.edu/geolog y. LOST ALAMOS NATIONAL LAB ---- Postdoctoral Position in Experimental Geochemistry ---- The Earth and Environmental Sciences Division (EES-6 Group) invites postdoctoral candidates to apply for an experimental geochemistry position in geological carbon sequestration research. UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN ----  ANN ARBOR ---- Post Doctoral Research Associate in Computational Mineralogy, Mineral Surface Sciences, Nanoparticles or combinations thereof.  Applications are invited for a one-year post-doctoral position (depending on funding opportunities, this period can be extended), available immediately. NEW MEXICO INSTITUTE OF MINING AND TECHNOLOGY (New Mexico Tech) - invites applications for a manager of the geologic mapping program with the New Mexico Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources (NMBGMR).  The Bureau, a research and service division of New Mexico Tech, functions as the state geological survey.   Applicants must meet a minimum educational requirement of a PhD in geology (although candidates with an M.S. in geology with truly exceptional work experience can be considered).The successful applicant will manage, maintain, and nurture a successful statewide geologic mapping program.  Experience in program management and personnel management, especially of field-based programs that involve geologic mapping essential. Experience in managing multi-faceted projects with complex budgets is desirable.  Interested applicants should submit a cover letter a full resume, transcripts, and the names of three professional references, to New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, Human Resources, Wells Hall, Socorro, NM 87801.
