Register Your Meteorite


The Department of Geoscience, UW-Madison would like to register all meteorites that fell on April 14, 2010. By doing this we will certify that they are authentic. It will also help us in our research to classify and officially name the meteorite.

Are you sure it's a meteorite?

If you have a meteorite that fell on April 14, please bring it to:

We would like to take pictures of your sample, weight them, and briefly describe them including the date and, if possible, exact sample locality. You retain ownership of your samples and are invited to watch as we do this. You can be acknowledged as owner of the meteorite or remain anonymous. If you request, we will keep the location confidential until we publish our results (>6 months).
