Is this a dinosaur?
No. A great many interesting animals other than dinosaurs lived during the Mesozoic Era. This skull belongs to Garjainia, a member of the group of animals from which dinosaurs, birds, crocodiles, and flying reptiles, among others, evolved. Garjainia lived in Europe at the dawn of the age of dinosaurs, during the Early Triassic period (about 240 million years ago). It was about 9 feet long, and a ferocious predator.
