Setting up Automatic Windows and MacOS Updates
Installing up-to-date operating system patches on your computer is a crucial first step to making sure your
computer is secure. Follow these instructions to make sure your computer automatically receives security updates.
Windows XP
- Open the "System" control panel.
- Click on the "Automatic Updates" tab.
- Make sure "Automatic" is selected to "Every day".
- Choose a time of day to update when the computer will generally be running.
- Click "OK".
Mac OS X
- Open the "Software Update" preferences.
- Make sure "Check for updates:" is checked and set to "Daily".
- Check "Download important updates in the background".
- Close the preference panel.
