Setting up a SPAM Filter for Eudora
The e-mail system on ice automatically scans incoming e-mail to determine if it's SPAM.
Since this is never fool proof e-mail suspected of being SPAM is tagged instead of being deleted.
By following these instructions you can set up Eudora to automatically send e-mail tagged by the server
as SPAM to the junk mailbox.
Older versions of Eudora will look a little different. If you have an older version of Eudora it is highly
recommended that you upgrade to the latest version.
Windows
Select "Filters" from the "Tools" menu.
Click "New".
In the first "Header" box type in "X-Spam-Flag:".
In the box to the right of "contains" type in "YES".
Change the box that says "ignore" to "or".
In the second "Header" box type in "X-Spam-Level:".
In the second box that says "contains" type in between 2 to 6 "*" for example: "*****".
If you want more SPAM and less false positives, use 6 *'s.
If you want less SPAM and potentially more positives, use 2 *'s.
Click the down arrow on the top most action item and select "Junk" from the menu that appears.
Click the down arrow on the second action item and select "Skip Rest".
Close the filters tool by clicking on the bottom of the 2 X's in the upper right-hand corner
of the Eudora window and click "Save" when asked if you would like to save the changes
made to your filters.
Any incoming mail that the server tags as SPAM will now automatically get transferred to the junk mailbox.
Remember to periodically check your junk email box periodically for false positives.
Eudora also has a built in spam filter which also transfers email to the junk mailbox. If you want to know which
filter was responsible, use a different mailbox in the above instructions.
