August 7 - 18

Day 1:  Keflavik/Blue Lagoon/camp at Seljavellir

Day 2:  Solheimajokull-southern outlet of Myrdalsjokull/Skogafoss

Ice tunnel with a small stream emerging from it at the margin of Solheimajokull.

Day 3:  Gigajokull-northern outlet of Eyjafjallajokull

A small cave beneath Gigajokull with a through-flowing subglacial stream.


Dawn Chapel tries to drive up Gigajokull to the accumulation zone - quite unsuccessfully.


Then she tried to dig the car out with her ice axe.  Again, unsuccessfully.


Clearly, the "superbus" is the preferred means of transportation on glaciated terrane!

Day 4:  Dyrholoey, town of Vik, and Skaftafell National Park

We split up on the last day to do our own versions of sight-seeing in the city.
